Spotify Taste Profile feature is now rolling out in the US after its initial testing in New Zealand earlier this year. “Taste Profile gives you more control over your recommendations, whether you want to explore beyond your usual interests or fine-tune what you already love,” according to the company.
Spotify Taste Profile is rolling out to Premium subscribers aged 18 and above in the US. The feature gives listeners more control over the recommendations that appear on their Home feed, allowing them to tell Spotify what they want to discover and what no longer matches their interests.
Taste Profile provides a brief overview of how Spotify interprets a listener’s taste across music, podcasts, and audiobooks. More importantly, users can directly add notes to influence future recommendations. These notes then act as guidance for Spotify’s recommendation system, which helps it surface more relevant content while moving away from content that no longer fits a listener’s preferences.
For example, users can tell Spotify that they want to explore a particular genre or era, such as ’90s alt-rock or modern indie pop. They can also describe what they want from their listening experience at a particular time, such as more energetic music in the morning, and Spotify will adjust the Home feed accordingly.
The feature also extends beyond music. Users can tell Spotify which podcast or audiobook topics interest them, including areas such as technology, history or art, so the Home feed can surface more related content.

How to Use Spotify Taste Profile Feature?
To access Spotify Taste Profile, Premium users aged 18 or older in the US or New Zealand can open the Spotify mobile app, tap their profile picture and select Taste Profile. They can then see Spotify’s interpretation of their taste and use the “Tell us more” option to add or adjust their preferences.
Spotify says changes typically appear within a few hours. Users can also edit or delete their notes whenever they want, meaning the Taste Profile can be updated as their interests and listening habits change.
The feature builds on Spotify’s existing tools for giving listeners more control over recommendations. The company previously introduced Exclude from Taste Profile, which allows users to prevent a specific track or playlist from influencing their recommendations. More recently, Spotify added an option for parents to stop kids and family music from influencing their recommendation algorithm.
