Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra renders have been leaked ahead of the device’s launch next year and it could bring a major redesign for the camera module. The leak suggests that Samsung might finally be ditching the familiar Ultra design its flagships have had for the past few years.
As per Android Headlines who shared the Galaxy S27 Ultra renders, the upcoming flagship from Samsung will ditch the vertically stacked and individually placed camera Sensors in favour of a rectangular camera module spanning across the width of the handset that will house all the sensors. The implementation is much like the iPhone 17 Pro series but with a more boxier shape.
However, Samsung was going to opt for this design for the Galaxy S26 Edge which would have been in development much before the iPhone 17 Pro series but the device was scrapped at the last minute.
Rest of the design seems identical to what we have got with the S26 Ultra. There are rounded edges, a flat aluminium frame, an S-Pen slot at the bottom left corner, a 6.9-inch display with a hole-punch selfie camera and slim bezels, a USB-C port on the bottom, and all the buttons on the right spine. Galaxy S27 Ultra’s dimensions are going to be roughly 163.76 x 78.25 x 7.97mm as per the report.

The camera module redesign itself could prove to be advantageous for Samsung as it could potentially pack a bigger battery in the S27 Ultra. Leaks suggest that the Galaxy S27 Ultra battery capacity is rated to be 5534mAh and it could be marketed as 5700mAh or 5800mAh. For the past six years, Samsung has been using a 5000mAh battery in its Ultra phones, so a battery upgrade is quite important at this point, especially when Chinese competitor brands are going way over the 7000mAh mark.
Aside from this, a recent report suggested that the smaller Galaxy S27 Pro could also adopt this same design with one less camera sensor and an overall smaller form factor.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to ditch the 10MP 3x telephoto sensor entirely and could use a 5x telephoto sensor instead. Further, it could get the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset, 60W fast wired charging, and run on One UI 9.5 based on Android 17.
