Qualcomm has introduced two new flagship mobile platforms, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, as it expands its premium smartphone Chipset lineup for the next generation of AI-powered mobile experiences. Both platforms focus on on-device AI, gaming, cameras and connectivity, with the Extreme Gen 6 positioned as Qualcomm’s most powerful mobile platform.
The company says smartphones powered by the two chipsets will launch from brands including HONOR, iQOO, Motorola, OnePlus, OPPO, REDMI, RedMagic, Vivo and Xiaomi.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 is built on a 2nm process and features Qualcomm’s fourth-generation Oryon CPU. It has two prime cores clocked at up to 5.0 GHz, six performance cores clocked at up to 4.0 GHz, with Qualcomm claiming a 13% CPU performance improvement over the previous generation. The Adreno GPU is said to deliver a 44% performance increase while improving power efficiency by 40%.
For AI processing, the chipset features a reengineered Hexagon NPU that Qualcomm says is 35% faster, with up to 33% better performance-per-watt. It also uses the Qualcomm Sensing Hub for on-device AI learning and personal context features. The platform is designed to support agentic AI experiences that can understand context, learn user preferences and perform tasks without requiring a prompt for every action.
Gaming is handled by an Adreno GPU with matrix cores and Qualcomm’s new Adreno Neural Fusion technology. The system uses dedicated AI processing to handle tasks such as AI-powered super resolution, frame generation and image reconstruction, with Qualcomm targeting console-quality graphics while keeping power consumption in check.
The chipset also brings several camera-focused upgrades. It features Qualcomm’s Spectra AI ISP and supports triple-camera setups with 64MP sensors, while single-camera configurations can go up to 320MP. Video recording support includes 4K at 120fps, while slow-motion capture can reach 1080p at 960fps. The platform also supports 8K video playback at 60fps and features such as Elite Color Engine, real-time semantic segmentation and AI-based Autofocus and exposure.
Connectivity is handled by the Qualcomm X105 5G Modem-RF System, with peak download speeds of up to 14.8Gbps and upload speeds of up to 4.2Gbps. It supports 5G SA, 5G NSA, 5G Advanced and NTN satellite communication. Qualcomm’s FastConnect 8800 system provides Wi-Fi connectivity with peak speeds of up to 11.6Gbps and support for Wi-Fi 8, Wi-Fi 7 and Wi-Fi 6. Bluetooth 6.0 is also supported.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 supports LPDDR5X memory and UFS 5.0 storage. It can drive an on-device display at up to QHD+ Resolution with a 240Hz refresh rate, while external displays can reach 8K at 30Hz. Qualcomm Quick Charge 5 support is also included.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 is also built on a 2nm process and uses Qualcomm’s Oryon CPU alongside a rearchitected Adreno GPU and Hexagon NPU. Qualcomm says the CPU delivers a 10% performance improvement and 37% better power efficiency, while the GPU offers a 35% performance increase and 40% improvement in efficiency compared with the previous generation. The CPU architecture includes 6 performance cores running at up to 4.0 GHz and 2 prime cores running at up to 5.0 GHz.
The Hexagon NPU gets a 14% performance improvement and supports agentic AI workloads. Qualcomm’s AI Engine is designed to enable multi-step AI experiences, while the Sensing Hub supports on-device learning to provide more personalised assistance.
For gaming, the chipset supports Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Elite Gaming features, including Game Quick Touch 3.0 for reduced latency. It also includes Adreno High Performance Memory, with 12GB allocated for graphics-intensive gaming workloads.
The camera system uses Qualcomm’s Spectra AI ISP and supports up to 320MP single-camera configurations. It can also support triple-camera setups with 64MP sensors, along with features such as Intelligent Pixel Control, Elite Color Engine, Motion Intelligence, AI-based autofocus and exposure, and real-time semantic segmentation. Video recording is supported at up to 4K and 120fps, and then slow-motion recording can reach 1080p at 960fps.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 uses the Qualcomm X105 5G Modem-RF System, with peak download speeds of up to 14.8Gbps and upload speeds of up to 4.2Gbps. It supports 5G SA, 5G NSA, 5G Advanced and NTN satellite communication. FastConnect 8800 provides Wi-Fi speeds of up to 11.65Gbps, with support for Wi-Fi 8, Wi-Fi 7 and Wi-Fi 6, alongside Bluetooth 6.0.
The chipset supports LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage. It can drive QHD+ displays at up to 240Hz and external 8K displays at 30Hz. Other features include Snapdragon Sound, Qualcomm Quick Charge 5, USB-C with DisplayPort and a range of biometric and security technologies.
