OPPO has officially unveiled ColorOS 17, bringing a new visual design, AI-powered features, performance improvements and additional security tools to supported devices. The new Android 17-based operating system will first ship on the upcoming OPPO Find X10 series, OnePlus 16 and OPPO Watch S2. OPPO also announced a stable rollout schedule for devices in China, with the first batch set to receive the update from October 8, 2026.
ColorOS 17: Everything New to Check Out
ColorOS 17 introduces a new Fluid Design with luminous visual effects, smoother animations and responsive feedback. OPPO has also introduced the Polar Light Engine, which the company claims can reduce application startup and runtime memory usage by 25%, while lowering rendering workload by 30%.
The for performance, there’s a new Tidal Engine that focuses on resource management, with personalised scheduling designed to improve background application retention. OPPO claims it can improve background application retention stability by 55.6%, while third-party App scrolling and loading speeds can be up to 50% faster. Mini-program startup speeds are claimed to improve by 30%, while app switching can be up to 15% faster. OPPO is also promising up to six years of smooth performance on supported devices.
AI features are a major part of the ColorOS 17 update, particularly in photography. The new AI Photo Editor brings several editing tools together, allowing users to remove unwanted objects, reduce motion blur and adjust colours and tones. The software also adds native 2K ProXDR imaging support.
Reference Image Replication lets users transfer the visual style of a reference image to another photo. OPPO is also introducing its Da Vinci Visual Understanding Model, which uses six specialised models focused on areas such as lighting and shadows, image quality, composition, colour, portraits and image elements.
AI Notes has also received a redesign. It now provides information overviews with one-tap sharing and adds Inspiration Moment cards that can surface previously saved ideas. Users can simultaneously record audio, take notes and capture photos, making the feature more useful for meetings, lectures and other situations where several types of information need to be captured together. ColorOS 17 also integrates AI-powered one-tap memory features with AI Photo Editor and AI Notes.

ColorOS 17 also adds Smart Screen Reading, which can read content displayed on the screen aloud with improved recognition accuracy. The operating system’s AI anti-fraud system uses personalised behaviour modelling to identify potential scams across different usage scenarios.
OPPO’s Xiaobu AI assistant in China has also been expanded as part of the update. The next-generation assistant provides access to lifestyle services, while Xiaobu Space manages personal tasks and information. Xiaobu Suggestions supports more than 700 service scenarios, and AI Fluid Cloud can provide proactive travel reminders.
Xiaobu Call can provide airport and high-speed railway pick-up reminders, while Xiaobu Memory can remember content and surface proactive suggestions.
Cross-device connectivity is another focus of the new software. ColorOS 17 supports Car+ connectivity with walking-navigation handover, camera connectivity with seamless photo album transfers, earphone connectivity with AI conversation interpretation and smartwatch connectivity with FatMax fat-burning mode.
A new Care Mode is also included, allowing users to enable accessibility and safety-related settings with a single tap.
Fluid Cloud information can now also be synchronised across supported devices. Users can customise modular watch faces, while exercise information recorded by a smartwatch can be displayed on connected smartphones and tablets.
ColorOS 17: Rollout Timeline, Supported Devices in China
For the Chinese market, the stable ColorOS 17 rollout will begin on October 8, with the OPPO Find N6, Find N6 Satellite Communication Edition, Find X9 Ultra, Find X9 Ultra Satellite Communication Edition, Find X9s Pro, Find X9 Pro, Find X9 Pro Satellite Communication Edition and Find X9 among the first devices. The OnePlus 15 and OnePlus 15T, along with the Realme GT8 Pro and GT8 Pro Aston Martin F1 Limited Edition, are also included in the first batch.
From October 16, the update will expand to devices including the OPPO Find N5, Find X8 series, OPPO Pad 5 Pro and Pad Mini, OnePlus 13 and 13T, OnePlus Pad 3 Pro, as well as the Realme GT7 Pro, GT7 Pro Racing Edition, GT8 and Neo8.
The next phase begins October 20 and includes devices such as the OPPO Watch X3 series and OnePlus Ace 6 series. The OPPO Reno16 Pro and Reno16 are scheduled to receive the update from October 22, followed by the OPPO Watch X2 series from October 30.
A larger batch of OPPO, OnePlus and Realme devices is scheduled for November, including the OPPO Find N3 series, Find X7 series, Reno15 and Reno14 series, OnePlus 12, Ace 5 series, Turbo 6 series and Pad 2 series, along with several Realme GT, Neo and Realme 15 series models.
The December rollout will cover additional OPPO Find, Reno, K and Pad models, OnePlus 11, Ace 3 series, Turbo 6X series and Pad devices, as well as Realme GT6, GT Neo6, Neo7x, Realme 14 series and V70 series.
The OPPO Find N2 and Find N2 Flip are scheduled to receive ColorOS 17 in the first quarter of 2027.
The rollout dates listed above apply to the Chinese market. OPPO has not yet announced the global ColorOS 17 rollout schedule, so the availability and timeline for India and other international markets remain to be confirmed.
