Nexon’s The First Descendant launches July 2 on consoles and PC

Nexon announced today that The First Descendant, a co-op looter shooter, will debut as a free-to-play title on July 2 on the PC and consoles.

Announced at the Summer Game Fest 2024 livestream, Nexon said the game will be available across PC via Steam, PlayStation 4 and PS5 5 and Xbox One and Series X/S on July 24.

Enlisting Descendants are encouraged to add The First Descendant to their Steam, PlayStation and Xbox wishlist as they prepare for the launch.

The announcement was made within a brand-new cinematic trailer, created in the recently updated Unreal Engine 5, which featured major Descendants dropping into the fight, coming face-to-face with new foes and meeting some new allies along the way.

The latest trailer not only highlights the action and cooperative gameplay that players can experience, but it reveals new characters and bosses that will be introduced at launch and through post-launch updates.

With the July 2 launch date revealed, Nexon is gearing up to share full details soon; including launch elements and events.

After concluding its cross play Open Beta in September 2023, game producer Lee Beomjun and director Minseok Joo have been regularly sharing key development updates through Dev Talks and Dev Notes, including top-requested enhancements and game features like mission variety, user interface improvements and further optimized graphics.

The First Descendant is a next-generation third-person co-op action RPG looter shooter featuring high-quality graphics developed using Unreal Engine 5. In the game, players become a Descendant whose mission is to combat against alien invaders – The Vulgus who crossed dimensions over 100 years ago and brought with them the devastating Colossi and destruction– for the survival of humanity and to protect Albion and the continent of Ingris.

Players will encounter stories as they grow stronger through various missions and raids to finally discover the Descendants’ secret. Cooperation is crucial as players team up with one another in strategic 4-player boss fights where teamwork and tactics are key. New equipment, materials, and items obtained through a myriad of missions and boss fights will contribute to players’ character development.
