Apple is now rolling out stable iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 and other major software updates for its devices. The updates introduce Siri AI, a more intelligent, knowledgeable, and capable version of Siri, along with other “powerful and intuitive new features to help parents create safer, more enriching digital experiences for kids and introduce an expansive set of improvements that make Apple products more responsive, more delightful, and easier to use.”
The biggest addition to stable iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and other new major software updates is Siri AI, which Apple describes as a new version of its voice assistant powered by the next generation of Apple Intelligence. Siri can now understand personal context from messages, emails, photos, and other information, while also using onscreen awareness and broader web knowledge to answer questions. The upgraded assistant is currently rolling out as a beta in English, with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish support coming in October.
Siri is also becoming more useful for visual tasks. On the iPhone, Siri mode is integrated into the Camera app, allowing users to ask questions about what the camera sees and take actions based on that information. Visual Intelligence also lets users ask Siri about content displayed on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, while Apple Vision Pro users can use their surroundings as the basis for searches and actions.
Apple is also adding a dedicated Siri app and Write with Siri. Users can describe what they want and have Siri create a draft or refine existing text. Conversations can be synced privately through iCloud, allowing users to start a conversation on one Apple device and continue it on another.

Apple Intelligence is expanding beyond Siri as well. The Photos app gets Spatial Reframing, Extend, and an upgraded Clean Up tool, while Image Playground can generate images in different styles, including photorealistic ones. Safari can automatically organise tabs into topics and notify users about website changes such as product restocks or price drops. Apple is also adding tools for creating custom extensions based on descriptions and surfacing useful information during calls.
The new releases also put more emphasis on child safety. Parents can now choose which apps children can access during account setup, require approval before they visit new websites through Safari, and approve new contacts. Communication Safety has also been expanded to detect and intervene when gore or violent content appears in shared images or videos. Screen Time has been redesigned to provide a clearer view of device usage, while parents can set daily limits for categories such as Entertainment, Games, and Social Media.
Apple says the latest software also improves everyday performance. Apps on iPhone and iPad can launch up to 30 percent faster, photos can load up to 70 percent faster after being captured, and AirDrop transfers can be up to 80 percent faster. iPad also gets faster file transfers to external USB drives, while Apple Vision Pro can start up and connect to Wi-Fi up to three times faster.
The Liquid Glass interface gets some refinements as well. A new Settings slider lets users adjust the appearance of Liquid Glass from ultraclear to fully tinted, while app icons have been updated with a sharper, more defined look. Other additions include full-resolution iCloud Shared Albums support for Android and Windows users, new health tracking features, custom EQ for AirPods, an enhanced Apple Maps Flyover experience, smarter Apple Watch Smart Stack suggestions, and new Apple Vision Pro spatial-scene features.
The updates are now rolling out across iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, visionOS 27, and tvOS 27.
