In an unexpected and surprising leak, the iPhone 18 Pro has appeared in a video where the device is being dropped on a hard surface for durability testing in a supplier factory. This is one of the most notable leaks in Apple’s history where the brand has mostly kept its devices under wraps up till launch. Here’s everything to know about the leak.
Rather than the usual CAD renders or dummy units that mostly surface ahead of an iPhone launch, a new leak appears to show Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro undergoing real-world durability testing. The footage reportedly comes from a major data breach involving Apple supplier Tata Electronics, which exposed confidential files related to the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. The leaked data is said to include supplier information, component lists, and photos and videos of the unreleased device being put through Apple’s internal drop tests.
The videos were later shared by well-known tipster Evan Blass on X, one of which has been taken down, giving the public what could be the first look at the iPhone 18 Pro. While the leak appears extensive, Apple’s rumoured foldable iPhone Ultra, expected to headline the company’s 2026 lineup, still has not surfaced yet. However, with reports claiming that nearly 200,000 internal files were leaked onto the dark web, there’s still a possibility that more unreleased products could emerge.

Based on the leaked footage, the handset retains a familiar design as the iPhone 17 Pro. It appears in a silver finish with flat metal sides that resemble aluminium considering Apple made that switch from Titanium last year, so it will likely stick with it this year as well.
The rear panel closely mirrors the current iPhone 17 Pro, featuring three large camera Sensors arranged in Apple’s signature triangular layout within a large rounded rectangular camera module. However, the dual-tone design seems to have been scrapped for a single colour across the panel. However, a cutout is still visible on the back. The LED flash and LiDAR sensor are positioned alongside the cameras, while the Apple logo remains centered on the back.
The videos show the phone being dropped repeatedly onto a hard testing surface inside what appears to be a controlled laboratory environment. One clip also shows the device lying face down after impact. Although the footage is brief, the phone appears to survive the drops without any visible external damage. Also, the device appears to be on the thicker side.
According to Reuters, the leaked files carried Apple’s internal watermarks and codenames associated with the iPhone 18 Pro generation. While the news agency said it could not independently verify the exact model shown in the videos, a source familiar with the matter reportedly identified the device as the iPhone 18 Pro.
