Xiaomi 18 Fold, Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max Announced

Xiaomi 18 Fold has been announced by the company as its first wide form factor foldable phone, similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 8. Further, the company also debuted the Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max with a 12000mAh battery. Both the devices are powered by Xiaomi’s in-house XRING O3 processor.

The Xiaomi 18 Fold starts CNY 10999 (approx Rs 1,54,775) and goes up till CNY 15,999 (approx Rs 2,25,000) for the top-end 16GB + 1TB ceramic limited edition. It comes in Ceramic Special Edition, Warm Gold White, Black, and Nishino Red.

The Xiaomi 18 Fold gets a 7.58-inch foldable main display and a 5.38-inch cover display. These are AMOLED displays with a Resolution of 2364 x 1672 pixels, up to 4000 nits brightness, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and a 4:3 aspect ratio for the foldable panel. The cover display gets a 1712 x 1168 pixels resolution, a 1Hz to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and up to 300Hz touch sampling rate.

The device is powered by the Xiaomi XRING O3 Chipset based on 3nm TSMC process, paired with up to 16GB LPDDR6 RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. 12GB RAM versions and the 16GB + 512GB variant have LPDDR5x RAM. It runs on Android 17-based Hyper OS 4.

For optics, there is a 200-megapixel f/1.7 Leica primary sensor with OIS, a 50-megapixel f/2.4 Leica ultra-wide angle sensor, and a 50-megapixel f/2.8 Leica periscope telephoto sensor with OIS, 3.5x optical zoom, on the back. A couple of 16-megapixel f/2.2 Sensors are included in a punch-hole cutout in the foldable and cover displays for selfies.

It gets a 6000mAh battery with 67W wired charging speed and 50W wireless charging. Connectivity options include 5G, LTE, Bluetooth v6.0, Wi-Fi 7, NFC, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. There is a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security, stereo speakers, while the device is IP58 + IP59 rated also.

Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max starts at CNY 4,799 (approx Rs 67,500) and comes in Wine red, black, and silver colours.

The Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max sports an 13.3-inch (3408 x 2272) 3:2 LCD display with up to a 144hz variable refresh rate, 308 ppi, 1000 nits brightness, 360Hz touch sampling rate, HDR 10, Dolby Vision, 12-bit colours, hardware-level blue light reduction, along with TÜV Rheinland hardware-level low blue light certification. The Pad 9 Pro Max is powered by the Xiaomi XRING O3 chipset.

It gets 16GB LPDDR6, 12GB and 16GB LPDDR5T, and 8GB LPDDR5x RAM versions with up to 1TB UFS 4.1 storage. For optics, the Pad 9 Pro Max has a 50MP primary sensor on the back and a 32MP front-facing sensor.

It packs a 12000mAh battery with 120W wired charging, 27W wired reverse charging, and 45W POGO wired charging. Connectivity options on the tablet include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth v6.0, IR blaster, and a USB Type-C USB 3.2 Gen 2 port. Along with that, it gets Dolby Atmos-powered 8-speaker system, paired with a 6-mic setup. In addition, it supports the Xiaomi Keyboard and stylus as well, and runs on HyperOS 4.0 based on Android 17.
