Venus Optics unveils $399 25mm F0.95 Argus APO lens for Micro Four Thirds

Venus Optics has announced its new Laowa Argus 25mm F0.95 MFT APO lens for Micro Four Thirds camera systems.

The apochromatic lens, which offers a 50mm full-frame equivalent field of view on Micro Four Thirds camera systems, is constructed of 14 elements in eight groups, including one aspherical element, one extra-low dispersion element and three ultra-high-refractive index elements. It uses a nine-blade aperture diaphragm, offers an aperture range of F0.95 throguh F11, has a minimum focusing distance of 25cm (9.8”) and uses a 62mm front filter thread.

The fully-manual lens is constructed entirely of metal and features both knurled aperture and focus rings (300° focus throw) for physical adjustments. Venus Optics also says the lens has been designed to have minimal focus breathing, making it an ideal candidate for shooting video. measures 71mm (2.8”) in diameter, 86mm (3.4”) long and weighs around 570g (1.25lbs).
