The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake is set to release exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5. A from-the-ground-up remake of one of the most beloved video games of all time, it features improved visuals and playability both on the TV and on the go. It’s available now for preorder (see it at Amazon) in both physical and digital formats.

As is Nintendo’s custom this console generation, there’s a $10 price difference between physical and digital copies of the game, with physical copies being more expensive. The MSRP for the game is $59.99 for digital copies and $69.99 for physical copies. For what it’s worth, for physical copies, the full game comes on the cartridge.
Nintendo also announced that the first prinitng of physical copies of the game would include “textured foil cover art.” It’s available while supplies last.
For other recent Switch 2 exclusive, including Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave and Switch Sports Resort, both Amazon and Walmart have cut $10 off the price of the physical version ahead of launch. Then, once the game is out, the price goes back up. Both Amazon and Walmart have it for $10 off.

In addition to the Ocarina of Time remake, Nintendo is also releasing a Zelda 40th Anniversary edition of the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware and accessories. The console is available for preorder now. It’s decked out in triangular Zelda imagery, and is set to release on October 29. Note: this console does NOT come with a pack-in game.

A pair of Nintendo amiibo will also be coming out to go along with the game. They’re not expected until sometime in 2027, but you can preorder them now.
What Is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake?
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake is a full remake of the 1998 Nintendo 64 original game. It has totally overhauled graphics to bring it up to modern standard. But instead of adding a bunch of new content, Nintendo says this is a “faithful interpretation” for modern hardware. That said, it does have more dialogue for the characters you meet along the way, to give them more personality.
It also has quality-of-life updates, like a full-roaming camera, a jump button, a roll/run button, as well as motion control aiming. Cutscenes will feature full voice acting, and you’ll be able to use the Zelda Notes app with it. There’s even an audio input option that lets you hum the songs to have Link play them in-game. Additionally, there’s a new menu called “Threads of Time” that recaps what you’ve already done and tells you what you rcurrent objective is.
But mostly the remake offers what you’d expect, including the same version of Hyrule, hints from Navi, as well as the similar music and sound effects to the original.
This isn’t the first time Ocarina has been remade. A 3D version of the game was released for Nintendo 3DS in 2011. It had improved graphics and a number of quality of life improvements over the original. The original N64 version of Ocarina of Time is also available on Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack.
There have also been a couple of Legend of Zelda LEGO sets, including The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time – The Final Battle, which actually contains spoilers for the end of this game, so tread carefully if you haven’t played it yet.
