Tecno POVA 8 Pro 5G has been announced in India with a MediaTek Dimensity processor under the hood. It has dual rear cameras along with an Alive Matrix display that “adds utility to the design with battery updates, timers, notifications and smart caller ID,” according to the brand.

Tecno POVA 8 Pro 5G: Specifications

The Tecno POVA 8 Pro 5G sports a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate, 1208 x 2644 pixels 1.5K resolution, 4500 nits peak brightness, 429 ppi, and Gorilla Glass 7i protection. Then, it is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate processor, paired with up to 12GB LPDDR5x RAM and up to 512GB of storage.
The Tecno POVA 8 Pro 5G has a dual rear camera setup, including a 50MP Sony LYT-700C primary camera with OIS, paired with an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle camera, and an LED flash. There’s also an Alive Matrix display on the back. At the front, it gets a 13MP f/2.2 sensor for selfies and video calls. It is backed up by a 6500mAh battery with 45W Fast charging support and 10W reverse wired charging also.
Connectivity options include 5G SA / NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.4, GPS, NFC, IR blaster, and a USB Type-C port for charging. It is also IP66 + IP68 + IP69 + IP69K rated, gets stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and runs on HiOS 16 based on Android 16.
Tecno POVA 8 Pro 5G: Should You Buy It?
The POVA 8 Pro 5G does stand out with its design with the Alive Matrix display and a geometric design pattern but for its price, the processor seems weak. At this price, you get a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip in the Motorola Edge 70 Max 5G along with a bigger battery but you compromise with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.
Then there’s Nothing Phone (4a) series which also gets a superior chip, same RAM, better cameras, and also the Glyph matrix display on the back in the Pro model with a metal unibody design, but then the trade-off here is lesser storage and a smaller battery.
Some other models with a better chip and a bigger battery include the Poco X8 Pro Max, OnePlus Nord 6, and even the Redmi Turbo 5. Poco’s device is available at Rs 52,999 for the 512GB model and it basically excels in every aspect compared to Tecno’s device except that it lacks the rear display.
While you may have to give up on storage in some models, they do offer a much better value for money than Tecno’s phone.
