Samsung quietly unveils the Galaxy A04e, maybe the cheapest A04 variation so far

While a lot of the attention of both the media and consumers alike may be captured by the high-end Galaxy S line, Samsung also makes many low-end devices – and keeps adding more and more to its roster seemingly every month.

Case in point: today the company has quietly unveiled the Galaxy A04e, not to be confused with the Galaxy A04 which was announced back in August, nor the Galaxy A04s which became official in September. October’s letter is “e” apparently, so let’s see what we get here.

The Galaxy A04e comes with a 6.5-inch HD+ PLS LCD touchscreen, a 13 MP rear camera with a 2 MP depth sensor next to it, a 5 MP selfie snapper, an unnamed SoC with an octa-core CPU (rumored to be the MediaTek Helio G35), 3 or 4GB of RAM, 32/64/128GB of expandable storage, LTE support (no 5G here), 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only (no 5 GHz band so no Wi-Fi 5 or 6) and a 5,000 mAh battery.

It runs Android 12 with One UI Core 4.1 on top, which is the stripped-down version of Samsung’s skin for low-end handsets. It measures 164.2 x 75.9 x 9.1 mm, and weighs 188g. Although Samsung doesn’t explicitly mention it, it’s most likely made out of plastic all over. Whenever it hits the streets, you’ll be able to purchase the A04e in three color variations, shown in the images above. They’re descriptively called black, light blue, and copper.

Compared to the A04, the A04e has a lower-res main camera, and also starts at a lower RAM amount and doesn’t go as high either. Compared to the A04s, the A04e has a lower refresh rate screen (60 Hz vs. 90 Hz), a lower-res main camera, one less camera (no macro shooter), and perhaps a different chipset (although that remains to be confirmed). Otherwise, these three are pretty much identical.

Since the A04e seems to be the lowest end of the trio, we assume it will also end up being the cheapest, but unfortunately Samsung hasn’t yet unveiled any pricing or availability information.
