Apple is set to host its event later today, where it is expected to debut its first foldable and hours before the event, we have information about the device and what else to expect at the event. The first foldable from Apple will be called iPhone Duo and it could start from $2,000.
As per Bloomberg, Apple is preparing to enter the foldable smartphone market with a device, called iPhone Duo, that could cost at least $2,000 (approx Rs 1,90,000), as the company looks to address some of the longstanding issues that have kept foldable phones from becoming mainstream.
The price would put it above comparable Samsung and other competing foldable models, although Apple is reportedly accepting higher component costs to keep the entry-level model around the $2,000 mark.
The base model of the iPhone Duo is expected to come with 256GB of storage, while higher-capacity variants could push the price to around $3,000. Apple has reportedly seen its component costs rise because of the ongoing memory shortage and is absorbing some of that increase on the entry-level model while passing more of the cost on to buyers who opt for higher storage capacities, as per Mark Gurman.
The iPhone Duo is expected to use a short and wide form factor similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 and this has already been leaked multiple times before. Furthermore, it is also expected to feature Apple’s in-house C2 Modem and A20 Pro chip, along with support for side-by-side apps and iPad-like multitasking.
On the camera front, the foldable is expected to feature two 48-megapixel rear cameras and a 12-megapixel front camera designed for videoconferencing. Apple is also reportedly including a magnetic hinge system and Apple Pencil support. The iPhone Duo could go on sale as early as October and is expected to be offered in white and dark blue.
Apple is also expected to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The phones are expected to look largely similar to their predecessors, although a burgundy red colour is reportedly replacing the orange option offered previously.
The biggest camera change in these phones could be a mechanical aperture, at least on the larger Pro model. The report says the change would give users more control over depth of field and could also improve low-light photography. Also, the new Pro models are also expected to use the A20 Pro chip, offer longer battery life and feature a redesigned vapour chamber for improved heat management.
Furthermore, the Dynamic Island is also expected to become smaller, while its live activity functionality could expand to show three live tasks simultaneously instead of two.

The Apple Watch lineup is also due for updates, with the Watch Series 12 and Watch Ultra 4 expected to receive new colours and changes to their cases and bands. A ceramic case option is reportedly returning for the Series 12, while the Ultra 4 is expected to offer improved battery life.
Health and fitness tracking will be another focus, with Apple expected to introduce a new Readiness app based on its Vitals software. The app will use sensor data such as heart rate and blood oxygen levels and add features aimed at competing more directly with fitness-focused wearables from companies such as Oura and Whoop.
Apple is also expected to revamp the iPhone Health app. Another watch feature will reportedly use AI to analyse a user’s day and provide a summary, including information from conversations.
The company is also expected to launch the AirPods 5, a more affordable model that will reportedly be available with or without a wireless charging case and will also offer a significant improvement in noise cancellation.
