Qualcomm has announced the new Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 processors at the Snapdragon for India event. Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 introduce Snapdragon Smooth Motion UI to enhance device interactions with seamless, lag-free navigation. In other words, Qualcomm aims to offer lag-free performance in mid-range phones from Android OEMs which will be powered by its new chipsets.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 5: Specifications
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 delivers 20% faster App launches and 18% less screen stutter. Built on a 4nm process, it uses an octa-core CPU setup with four performance cores clocked at up to 2.6GHz and four efficiency cores running at up to 2.0GHz. Qualcomm claims the chipset brings improvements in gaming, multitasking, app performance, and power efficiency compared to the previous generation.
According to the company, the new Qualcomm Adreno GPU delivers up to 21 percent better graphics performance, while overall power savings improve by up to 8 percent. Qualcomm also says the chipset can reduce screen stutter by 25 percent and improve app launch speeds by as much as 43 percent. Features such as Snapdragon Smooth Motion UI are designed to make animations and navigation feel smoother during everyday usage.
For gaming, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 includes select Snapdragon Elite Gaming features. Qualcomm Adaptive Performance Engine 4.0 is designed to dynamically manage resources during demanding gameplay, while Snapdragon Game Super Resolution can upscale game visuals for improved image quality without significantly impacting battery life. The chipset also supports Qualcomm Frames Per Second (FPS) 3.0 technology for more stable frame rates and reduced stutter.
On the camera side, the chipset uses the Qualcomm Spectra ISP with support for up to 200-megapixel camera sensors. It also supports AI-powered Night Vision features aimed at improving low-light photography and video capture. Other camera capabilities include 4K video recording at 30fps, support for optical zoom, and up to 100x digital zoom. Qualcomm has also included support for dual 16-megapixel camera setups and single 64-megapixel Sensors with multi-frame noise reduction.
Connectivity features include Qualcomm’s 5G Modem-RF System with download speeds of up to 2.8Gbps and support for global 5G Multi-SIM functionality. The chipset also supports Wi-Fi 7, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 6.0, and Qualcomm XPAN technology for wider audio coverage across larger spaces.
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 supports LPDDR5 RAM at speeds up to 3200MHz and supports displays with up to Full HD+ resolution at 144Hz refresh rate. Other features include Qualcomm Quick Charge 5 support, dual-frequency GPS with NavIC support, USB-C connectivity, and Qualcomm Aqstic audio technologies with aptX Adaptive support.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 will be featured in upcoming devices from global OEMs, including Honor and Redmi.

Snapdragon 4 Gen 5: Specifications
The chipset features 2 performance cores running at up to 2.4 GHz and 6 efficiency cores at up to 2.0 GHz. According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 can reduce screen stutter by up to 25 percent and improve app launch speeds by 43 percent. The company also claims up to 10 percent better power efficiency compared to the previous generation, which should help improve battery life during daily use.
Gaming performance also sees a notable upgrade with a 77 percent more powerful Adreno GPU. Qualcomm says the chipset is the first in the Snapdragon 4 series to support 90FPS gaming, aimed at delivering smoother gameplay and more stable frame rates in supported titles.
For photography, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 uses the Qualcomm Spectra ISP with support for up to 108-megapixel single camera sensors. The chipset supports features such as electronic image stabilisation (EIS), intelligent face detection, and multi-frame noise reduction for improved photo and video quality. Video recording support includes 1080p playback at 60fps and slow-motion recording at 720p and 120fps.
Connectivity features include Qualcomm’s Release 17 5G support with download speeds of up to 2.8Gbps and upload speeds of up to 900Mbps. Qualcomm Smart Network Select 3.0 can automatically switch to the strongest available signal for more stable connectivity, while Dual SIM Dual Active support allows two SIM cards to stay connected simultaneously on 5G or 4G networks.
The chipset also supports Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, dual-frequency GPS with NavIC support, NFC, and Qualcomm Aqstic audio technologies with aptX Adaptive support for higher-quality wireless audio streaming.
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 supports LPDDR4X RAM running at up to 2133MHz and displays with up to Full HD+ resolution at 144Hz refresh rate. Other features include Qualcomm Quick Charge 5 support, USB-C connectivity, and Qualcomm’s Trusted Execution Environment for device security.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 will be first seen on devices from OPPO, Realme, and Redmi.
