Poco M8x 5G has been announced in India with a huge 7900mAh battery under the hood along with a Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 processor. Poco says the M8x 5G is the first smartphone in India to be powered by this processor. Here’s everything to know about the new device.
Poco M8x 5G: Price, Availability
The Poco M8x 5G will be available in two variants, with the 4GB + 128GB variant priced at Rs 20,999 and the 6GB + 128GB variant priced at Rs 22,999. As part of the launch offer, customers can avail of a Rs 2,000 coupon on the first day of sale, bringing the effective prices down to Rs 18,999 and Rs 20,999, respectively.
The Poco M8x 5G will go on sale starting 12:00 noon on August 27, 2026, on Flipkart, in Leather Green, Blue, and Black shades.
Poco M8x 5G: Specifications
The Poco M8x 5G sports a 6.9-inch IPS LCD display with an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels along with up to 120Hz refresh rate, 8-bit colours, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and 825 nits of HBM brightness. It is protected with Gorilla Glass 7i.
Under the hood, the device has the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 SoC paired with up to 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage with support for expandable storage up to 2TB. The handset runs on Android 16-based HyperOS 3.0 out of the box and it will get 4 major Android OS updates and 6 years of security updates.

There is a 7900mAh battery under the hood with 45W Fast charging support and 22.5W reverse wired charging support. On the rear, the phone sports dual 50MP f/1.8 camera setup with a flicker sensor. For selfies, an 8MP f/2.0 front-facing camera is included.
Additionally, connectivity options include support for 5G, 4G LTE, Bluetooth v5.1, Dual SIM, Wi-Fi 5, GPS, a USB-C port, and a 3.5mm Headphone jack. It also gets a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security, stereo speakers, and an IP64 rating.
Poco M8x 5G: Is It Worth Buying?
In our opinion, at Rs 20,999, the Poco M8x 5G is actually a worthy pick, even when compared to its competitors. With the rising costs of phones, it is becoming increasingly difficult for brands to make phones that would provide the same value which phones did, say, a year ago. Even by the new standards, the Poco M8x 5G checks most boxes.
One major competitor for the Poco handset is the Ai+ Nova 2 Pro 5G (review). If you can give up on the cameras, then the Ai+ device actually has a slightly superior chipset, offers 8GB RAM at Rs 19,999 which is Rs 1,000 cheaper than the starting price of Poco’s device, has a stereo speaker setup, and also a set of customisable lights on the back. The drawback? A smaller 6000mAh battery and poor quality cameras. The brand still offers you an 8MP ultra-wide angle sensor which is rarely seen in this price segment nowadays but its quality remains questionable.
However, if you want to opt for an entirely different software experience, then you can consider the likes of iQOO Z11 Lite 5G, OnePlus N6x and the Realme Narzo 100x 5G. The Realme device also has a slightly bigger 8000mAh cell, but then you’ll be compromising in various other aspects like the lack of stereo speakers, lesser storage, or an inferior chipset.
