OnePlus Nord N100 is getting new update with March security patches

OnePlus has been doing pretty well with software support, taking care of its budget Nord N100 handset. Units are now receiving a new update in North America and EU regions. The packages are slightly different and have different version numbers, but should essentially contain the same changes and improvements. North America users get OxygenOS 10.5.7 – 10.5.7.BE81AA, while EU ones should look out for OxygenOS 10.5.9 – 10.5.9.BE83BA.

Unfortunately, the official change log is kind of sparse and only has two entries:

  • Updated Android security patch to 2021.03
  • Fixed known issues and improved system stability

At least the fresh March security patches are nice to see. On a more positive note, the previous update OnePlus seeded to the N100 claimed to improve standby power consumption for the handset, as well as fix some “known issues”. So, even if OnePlus is not taking the time to detail all of the little things it is patching, progress is clearly being made and sometimes major-enough to merit an actual entry.

As is often the case, this is a staged OTA rollout and only a few users are currently seeing the update on their phones. A wider rollout is expected in the next few days.
