Meet Venus Optics’ new $299 10mm F4 ‘Cookie’ lens for APS-C mirrorless cameras

I hope you have your oven mitts ready, APS-C shooters, because Venus Optics has just announced its new fully-manual Laowa 10mm F4 ‘Cookie’ lens is fresh out of the oven and ready to pair with your compact crop-sensor camera.

Playing on the typical ‘pancake’ lens nomenclature, Venus Optics has introduced a new lens in the form of this compact 10mm F4 lens for Canon RF, Fujifilm X, L, Nikon Z and Sony E mount camera systems. The lens, which lacks any contacts for AF/EXIF transfer, is rectilinear and constructed of 12 elements in eight groups, including two aspherical elements and four extra-low dispersion elements. On most APS-C systems, it offers a roughly 15-16mm full-frame equivalent focal length.

The lens features a five-blade aperture diaphragm, has a minimum focusing distance of 10cm (4″), uses a 37mm front filter thread and has an aperture range of F4 through F22. As its ‘Cookie’ nickname suggests, this lens is incredibly compact, measuring roughly 60mm in diameter (2.4″) by 25mm (1″) long and weighs roughly 130g (4.6oz).

Below is a collection of sample images, provided by Venus Optics:

The Laowa 10mm F4 is available in both black and silver variations and is available for all of the aforementioned lens mounts on Venus Optics’ website for $299.
