Honor 9X Lite promotional banner pops-up online

It seems like Honor is preparing a Lite variant for it relatively popular 9X. Or, at the very least, that’s what the text on a recently unearthed promotional banner suggests. Given the company’s track record, we can’t realistically say with any confidence that the Lite will be based off of its namesake sibling. The mysterious device does appear to sport a wider, rectangular camera module on its back, quite similar to the one brought about by the Honor V30 pair. That can, perhaps, be taken as a good sign of authenticity. Apparently, the X9 Lite will be taunted as an “XTRAORDINARY PHOTOGRAPHER”, with a 48MP “dual camera” earning it said “punny” title. As per the source, dual, in this particular case, most likely entails a secondary depth sensor.

Circling back to the authenticity argument, as well as, what is probably the most exciting bit of information in what is otherwise a fairly skimpy leak – the Honor 9X Lite has Google Play certification. You can confirm for yourself at this official Google page, which actually lists three distinct model numbers for the Honor 9X Lite – JSN-L21, JSN-L22 and JSN-L23.

Taking that information into account, our best guess is that Honor will likely be borrowing the same HiSilicon Kirin 710F chipset, already found in the regular Honor 9X. This approach, apparently allows the new Honor 9X Lite to work around the US Huawei ban and fall-back on an earlier Google Play Services certification pass or at least precedent. In this case, likely one going back to the Huawei P Smart Z. But, that’s just us making an educated guess on potential internals. We will keep you posted if more info becomes available.
