Google Announces Ask Maps in Hindi, Memory for Past Conversations, and More

Google has announced the launch of Ask Maps in Hindi so to make it more accessible to the users. Aside from this, you can now get personalised recommendations based on your travel and reservation details (when you choose to connect Gmail), and access trusted, real-time information to make everyday decisions more easily. Here’s everything new with the Ask Maps feature.

Ask Maps in Hindi

Starting August 6, Google has begun rolling out Ask Maps in Hindi. “Maps will understand and respond naturally, making it easier to discover places, plan routes, and get local insights,” as per the company.

Personalised Intelligence in Ask Maps

With Personal Intelligence, you can choose to securely connect Ask Maps to Gmail, and soon other apps like Calendar. Ask Maps automatically factors in your upcoming flight or dinner reservations, giving you relevant suggestions without you having to explain your existing plans.

For example, if you’re traveling, you can ask for ideas on how to spend a few hours near the hotel before your flight tomorrow. You’ll see nearby recommendations based on your hotel reservation in Gmail – along with tips for getting to the airport afterwards, like what time to leave.

Connecting to your Gmail is off by default and you can decide if you want to turn it on and connect.

Memory for Past Conversations

If your history settings are turned on, Ask Maps also remembers past conversations so you can pick up where you left off. Simply ask Maps to remind you what activities it suggested for your trip to Seattle. Maps will then pull up your previous ideas so you don’t have to start planning from scratch.

Get trusted, real-time information instantly

Ask Maps can also give you real-time information – like what traffic to expect on your morning commute or what the weather conditions look like. You can even check how busy a shop or restaurant is before you head out so you can avoid waiting in long lines.

Real-time Public Transport Updates

Google has introduced a new transit widget in Ask Maps that keeps you informed about up-to-the-minute schedules and delays for your bus, metro, or train.

For example, if you ask for upcoming schedules at ISBT Kashmere Gate, you’ll get live departure times for multimodal options (inter-city bus, local buses and metro), route updates, and connecting options right at a glance. If a bus or train is running late, the wait adjusts in real-time so you know when to head to the station.
