Ford has a ‘secret’ website for its $30,000 EV pickup, revealing a closer look

That low-cost electric Ford pickup we’re all waiting for now has a dedicated website that offers a sneak peek at the upcoming EV.

Ford’s $30,000 EV pickup now has its own website

No, it’s not the next-gen F-150 Lightning. With its debut just around the corner, Ford is now testing the midsize electric pickup on public roads.

After CFO Sherry House confirmed earlier this month that Ford was now building and testing prototypes ahead of its 2027 launch, the first one was spotted driving around Long Beach.

The disguised test mule, first spotted by The Autopian, appeared much smaller than most would expect from Ford, known for its massive trucks and SUVs like the F-Series. Compared to the F-150 in front of it and the Ranger-based Mazda B-series pickup behind it, you can tell the “midsize” EV pickup is tiny.

While the vehicle itself started making the rounds on social media, a reader pointed out that QR codes were hidden in the camouflage.

When scanned, the code takes you to a “secret” website dedicated to the upcoming electric pickup. On the front page, it reads “Congrats, You spotted a 🦄.” Ford confirmed it’s “testing this prototype early,” adding that “The herd arrives next year.”

There are a few videos posted on the page. The first shows a pre-production vehicle testing with former Tesla engineer Alan Clarke, who now leads Ford’s UEV platform team, explaining how the website will be the “exclusive window” into the progress leading up to its launch in 2027.

Another video shows Ford using unicasting and other advanced manufacturing methods with the Universal Electric Vehicle (UEV) platform.

The last video, titled “Dashing Through the Snow,” offers a glimpse of the midsize pickup testing in icy and snowy conditions in Northern Michigan.

You can even catch a sneak peek of the interior with what appears to be a decent-sized infotainment screen at the center.

Ford said the four-door EV pickup will offer more interior space than a Toyota RAV4 (and that doesn’t even include the frunk or bed), and a lower total cost of ownership than a Tesla Model Y.

With a starting price around $30,000, it will also be affordable. Using advanced new manufacturing processes, LFP batteries, and vehicle design, the company promises its next-generation EVs will be more efficient, more affordable, and (for Ford’s sake) more profitable than the Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning.

You can visit the website here and sign up to learn more about Ford’s upcoming EV pickup. It will be assembled at Ford’s Louisville Assembly plant with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2027.
