Cosina unveils new Voigtlander 40mm F2.8 Aspherical lens for Leica VM, L39 camera systems

Cosina has announced the details of its new Voigtlander Heliar 40mm F2.8 Aspherical lens for Leica VM and Leica screw mount thread (L39) camera systems.

The compact manual prime is constructed of five elements in three groups, including a single aspherical element in the middle. The lens uses a ten-blade aperture diaphragm, offers an aperture range of F2.8 through F22, has a minimum focusing distance of 70cm (27.5”), uses a 34mm front filter thread and offers a 57-degree field of view on full-frame camera systems.

The Voigtlander Heliar 40mm F2.8 Aspherical lens measures 52mm (2”) in diameter, 21.2mm (.83“) long and eights only 131g (4.6oz). Cosina says the lens, which comes with both front and rear lens caps, as well as a lens hood, is set to be released in March 2022 in silver and black versions for ¥68,000 / $589 and ¥71,000 / $615, respectively.
