Cosina releases three new 35mm F2 lenses for Leica M, Sony E mount

Cosina has announced three new manual Voigtlander 35mm F2 lenses, including two for Leica M mount camera systems and one for Sony E mount camera systems.

Voigtlander Ultron Vintage Line 35mm F2 Aspherical Type II VM

First up is the Voigtlander Ultron Vintage Line 35mm F2 Aspherical Type II VM (really, Cosina?). This lens is an update to the current Voigtlander Ultron 35mm F2 Aspherical Lens, which itself was inspired by classic mid-century Voigtlander lenses.

The lens is constructed of eight elements in five groups. It has an aperture range from F2 through F16, uses a 10-blade aperture diaphragm, features a minimum focusing distance of 58cm / 23” (70cm / 27.5” when used with rangefinder coupling) and uses a 39mm front filter thread. The lens is constructed entirely of metal, including the clicked aperture ring and focusing ring. Despite its all-metal construction, the lens weighs only 210g (7.4oz) and measures 52mm (2”) in diameter and 28.1mm (1.1”) long.

Below are a few sample photos, provided by Cosina:

The Voigtlander Ultron Vintage Line 35mm F2 Aspherical Type II VM will be available in black or silver and is set to go on sale next month for ¥90,000 (~$855). You can find additional details on Cosina Japan’s website (machine-translated).

Voigtlander Apo-Lanthar 35mm F2 Aspherical VM

Next up is the Voigtlander Apo-Lanthar 35mm F2 Aspherical VM lens for Leica M and Sony E mount camera systems. This lens features an apochromat design, which means Cosina has taken extra care to eliminate as many aberrations as possible for the best image quality.

The lens is constructed of 11 elements in 9 groups, including five low-dispersion elements, two double-sided aspherical elements and a floating element. It has an aperture range of F2 through F16, uses a 12-blade aperture diaphragm and has a minimum focusing distance of 50cm / 20” (70cm / 27.5” when used with rangefinder coupling).

The Sony E mount version of the Voigtlander Apo-Lanthar 35mm F2 Aspherical lens

The lens is made of metal, including its grooved focus ring and clicked aperture ring. The lens weighs 304g (10.7oz) and measures 55.6mm (2.19) in diameter and 58.1mm (2.3”) long.

The Voigtlander Apo-Lanthar 35mm F2 Aspherical VM lens for Leica M and Sony E mount camera systems is set to go on sale next month for ¥120,000 (~$1,150). You can find additional details on Cosina Japan’s website (machine-translated).
