Binance Executive Located in Kenya After Escaping Nigerian Custody

Nadeem Anjarwalla, the executive from Binance who escaped custody in Nigeria, has reportedly been found in Kenya. Law enforcement agencies in Nigeria, spearheaded by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), are in talks with their Kenyan counterparts about Anjarwalla’s extradition.

Nigerian Authorities Want Nadeem Anjarwalla Extradited

According to a report, Nadeem Anjarwalla, a Binance executive who escaped from custody in Nigeria, has been located in Kenya, and efforts to extradite him are already underway. The report added that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian police have engaged with the Kenyan Police Service regarding the matter.

Anjarwalla, who serves as Binance’s regional manager based in Kenya, was one of two executives from the cryptocurrency exchange detained by Nigerian authorities in late February. Upon their detention, travel documents for both Anjarwalla and fellow Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan were seized. They were subsequently transferred to a government guesthouse.

However, nearly a month after his detention, Anjarwalla, a citizen of both Britain and Kenya, managed to escape from custody and left the West African nation via an unidentified Middle Eastern airline. Immediately following his escape, Nigerian authorities announced they would request Interpol to issue an international arrest warrant.

While the Daily Post report does not detail how law enforcement agencies were able to locate Anjarwalla, it cites an anonymous source within the Nigerian presidency who confirms the claims.

“We know where he is. He is in Kenya, and we’re working with the authorities to bring him back to Nigeria,” the source said.

Meanwhile, the report revealed that the EFCC has assumed responsibility for the case, taking over from Nigeria’s Office of the National Security Adviser.
