Baldur’s Gate 3 releases on Xbox mere moments after winning Game of the Year

Larian Studios announced the release of Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox Series X/S only a few moments after the game was named Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2023. In its social media posts, Larian says the game is now available on Xbox’s current-gen consoles, with the deluxe edition also including physical Xbox discs.

The Xbox console port for Baldur’s Gate 3 has been in the works for some time, with rumored difficulties achieving feature parity between the Series X and Series S. One of the features apparently sacrificed (at least for the time being) is local co-op, which is not available on the Xbox Series S.

The game has been on early access on PC for several years, and launched on PlayStation on September 22. However, Larian reassured Xbox players repeatedly that it intended to launch the game before the end of the year.
