Apple is currently preparing one of the biggest Siri overhauls yet as part of iOS 27, with a redesigned interface, deeper AI integration, and new ways to interact with the assistant. The changes are expected to be unveiled at WWDC 2026 on June 8 and ahead of the official announcement, the iOS 27 Siri redesign has been leaked.
Per Bloomberg’s report, a major part of the upgrade is a rebuilt Siri experience powered by a mix of Apple’s own AI technologies and Google Gemini. Siri is expected to gain the delayed Apple Intelligence features first announced in 2024, including the ability to understand personal data, analyse on-screen content, and perform more context-aware actions across apps and the operating system.
The iOS 27 Siri redesign will allow it to function as an always-available assistant integrated directly into the Dynamic Island. Users will still be able to activate Siri by saying “Siri” or pressing the power button, but a new interaction method is also said to be in development. A swipe-down gesture from the top centre of the screen could launch a new Search or Ask interface, providing a chatbot-like experience that supports both text and voice input.
The new interface of the iOS 27 Siri redesign is expected to let users perform tasks such as launching apps, sending messages, searching notes, creating calendar events, triggering shortcuts, and performing AI-powered web searches. Results would appear in rich information cards that expand from the Dynamic Island, while a deeper swipe could open a dedicated conversational Siri interface.

Apple is also reportedly also developing a standalone Siri app as a part of the iOS 27 Siri redesign that more closely resembles services such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude. The app would feature conversation history, voice and text interactions, and support for uploading documents and images for analysis.

The assistant is expected to become significantly more capable when it comes to personal productivity. Users may be able to ask Siri to check calendar availability before scheduling meetings, identify overlapping events, draft emails using information from the web and personal data, or create notes and messages based on contextual information stored on the device.
Next, the company is also said to be testing support for third-party AI services within Siri. Alongside its existing ChatGPT integration, the company has reportedly explored connections with Google Gemini and Anthropic’s Claude. Users may eventually be able to choose which AI service handles specific queries through a dedicated selection menu.
The Camera app could see major AI-focused upgrades as well. Siri is reportedly being integrated directly into the camera interface, allowing users to capture images and then further instantly send them to AI services for analysis or reverse image searches. Apple is also said to be making the camera interface more customizable by allowing users to replace shortcut controls with features such as depth adjustments, timers, and even Night mode tools.
The Photos app is expected to receive new AI-powered editing tools, including Reframe, which can alter a photo’s composition, and Extend, which can generate additional image content beyond the original frame. Further, Apple is also reportedly testing natural language photo editing, which will allow users to describe edits through voice or text commands.
Another significant update may arrive in the Shortcuts app, where the company is seems to be working on a natural language automation system that would allow users to create complex workflows simply by describing what they want to happen instead of manually building automation steps.
Additional AI-powered features are also said to be in development, which may include AI-generated wallpapers, a system-wide grammar checker, and improvements to Image Playground and also Genmoji for creating higher-quality AI-generated images and custom emojis.
While not all of these features are expected to launch with the first version of iOS 27, the report suggests Apple is planning a much broader AI-focused upgrade that’ll extend far beyond Siri and will touch nearly every major part of the iPhone experience.
