Apple iPhone 9 / iPhone SE 2 announcement to take place in mid-March

The much anticipated (and well overdue) successor to the iPhone SE from 2016 is just around the corner, according to a bunch of leaks, rumors, and speculation we’ve seen about it in the past few months. Every bit of leaked info was pointing towards an introduction at some point during the first quarter of this year, and today we have something a little more concrete than that – but still not a solid date, mind you.

According to renowned leakster Evan Blass, a.k.a. , Apple is set to unveil the device in mid-March. There’s been some confusion as to the naming, it’s either going to be iPhone 9 or iPhone SE 2. CAD-based renders of the handset have already been outed.

Most previous rumors talked about the iPhone 9 as a device that looks like the iPhone 8, complete with huge bezels (for this day and age, at least) and Touch ID physical home button. That said, one rumor distinctly contradicted this, saying there will be Face ID on board. We’ll see which way Apple chose to go, definitively, in a little over a month.

Until then, note that the iPhone 9 is said to come with the A13 Bionic chipset on board, which debuted on the iPhone 11 lineup. It will have 3GB of RAM (1GB less than the iPhone 11), 64 or 128GB of storage, and a single rear camera. You will choose between Space Gray, silver, and red, colorway-wise. One analyst believes the iPhone 9 will start at $399.
