All Galaxy S27 Series Models Could Equip Privacy Display; S27 Pro, Ultra to Get iPhone-like Square Selfie Camera

A couple of new reports have emerged online, tipping a few features of the upcoming Galaxy S27 series models. The reports suggest that Samsung will be equipping all four Galaxy S27 series models with the Privacy Display feature that first debuted on the S26 Ultra earlier this year. Also, the Pro and the Ultra model could be getting a new selfie camera sensor.

As per The Elec, “All (Galaxy S27 series) models, including the newly added pro models, are equipped with Flex Magic Pixel (FMP) technology as a standard basis.” This is a surprising move if true, considering the technology is still fairly new and Samsung is already adding it to all of its flagships after a year it was first introduced.

Moreover, the vanilla model in the Galaxy S-series lineup often misses out on the most advanced features of the more expensive models but if Samsung does end up adding it Privacy Display to the base S27, then that could significantly increase the value proposition of the device. Previously, only the Pro and Ultra models were rumoured to employ the technology.

For those uninitiated, with the Privacy Display feature, you can customise it to raise your guard with specific apps, or when entering access details for more private areas of your phone. With multiple settings for adjusting visibility, you can limit what others can see based on the level of privacy protection you need. Furthermore, you can also choose to protect specific parts of the display instead of the whole panel, such as notification pop-ups.

The company plans to introduce four new S-series models in 2027, including the Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27 Plus, Galaxy S27 Pro, and the Galaxy S27 Ultra, as per rumours. Another report (via Ice Universe) suggests that the Pro and the Ultra model could get an all-new 16MP front camera, which may adopt a square sensor similar to Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro models.

Having a square sensor allows iPhone 17 models to capture landscape selfies even when the device is being held in a portrait position. In other words, users do not have to rotate their phones to capture more of the scene.

Further, the tipster added that the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra will come equipped with a 50MP telephoto camera and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. Rumours have previously suggested that the S27 Ultra may ditch the 3x telephoto sensor the current generation S26 Ultra has.
