Xiaomi Mi A2 now getting Android 10 update

The Xiaomi Mi A2 garnered quite a bit of popularity in its day. An affordable Android One device, complete with an impressive (for the time) camera setup. What’s not to love? Well, the update schedule could have been a little tighter, but at least the Android 10 is finally coming.

The new update package weighs 1.3GB and has begun a staged roll-out. Some early users have been reporting UI glitches and the notable omission of the VoWiFi feature. If you are currently on a network that uses it for voice over WiFi, definitely hold back a bit.

If not, you can either wait for the OTA and any potential further fixes that it could get before reaching your particular staging branch or download the package directly from the source link below and flash it.

The good news is that there are no reported performance of overheating issues. One more thing worth noting, especially if you do decide to go down the manual flash road – you might want to lock your bootloader up afterwards. APEX packages – Google’s new low-lever library and Kernel update scheme, currently in its infancy within Android 10, requires a locked bootloader to work. It’s a strictly optional step, of course.

And if you are a Xiaomi Mi A3 user, hand on tight. Android 10 should be coming to your device shortly, since kernel sources are already out in the open.
