Xiaomi is bringing Redmi K60 Ultra at the August 14 event

Xiaomi is having a big event on August 14, where we’ll see the new foldable Mix Fold 3, a massive 2-in-1 Android tablet Pad 6 Max 14, and a Pro variant of the Band 8 wearable. And wait, that’s not all.

The Redmi brand is also joining the party, with the premium Redmi K60 Ultra officially scheduled to make an appearance on stage. The Weibo page of the Xiaomi subsidiary already confirmed rumors of the Dimensity 9200+ chipset but also revealed the design of the new device.

The display of the Redmi K60 Ultra will support a 144 Hz refresh rate and will have a 1.5K resolution, which is the way Chinese makers advertise their 1220p display. Interestingly enough, both the Redmi K60 and Redmi K60 Pro have a 1440p panel, so the Ultra is technically a minor downgrade.

The new device will also have a variant with 24 GB RAM and 1 TB storage, which will make it the first non-gaming smartphone with so much memory, surpassing the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro, scheduled to arrive later this month.

The cameras on the back will be three, but only two of them are likely to be proper shooters; the third appears to be a basic 2 MP portrait lens. The main camera will be 50 MP, and the secondary will surely be an ultra-wide-angle shooter.

All the final details will be revealed on Monday when we also expect to learn how much this phone would cost. For comparison, the Redmi K50 Ultra started from CNY 3,000 ($415/€380), with prices going as high as CNY 4,200 ($580/€530) for a limited Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team edition.
