Xiaomi hypes up the Mi 10 Youth display – Samsung-made OLED, 4,300,000:1 contrast

The Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth 5G is set to be announced in a couple of days, and we’ve already seen a TENAA listing detailing most specs as well as some official teasers highlighting its camera system. The teasing game continues on Weibo, where Xiaomi’s now showcased the upcoming phone’s display.

It’s a Samsung-made Super AMOLED panel and Xiaomi is keen to point out its diamond pixel arrangement because it brings ‘diamond quality’. It’s the subpixel array that most Samsung OLED displays use anyway, but the marketing department needs words to work with.

Xiaomi states that each unit is factory-tuned for color accuracy and quotes an average deltaE of 1.1. Contrast is advertised at 4,300,000:1, for what that’s worth.

Being a Samsung panel, the one on the Mi 10 Youth comes with HDR10+ support – the ‘plus’ in there setting apart the Samsung-backed standard with dynamic metadata for dynamic range allocation from the static-metadata-only HDR10.

The display also features DC dimming to combat flicker, which some users may find noticeable on OLED displays at lower brightness levels. A 180Hz touch sampling rate (but presumably still 60Hz refresh rate) rounds up a pretty impressive display specsheet.
