At the end of last year we heard a rumor about an upcoming phone called Redmi Note 9T, and the new 2021 began with confirmation of its arrival. The company’s Spanish branch tweeted a teaser about an upcoming launch on January 8 at 10 AM GMT, but the tweet was deleted shortly after.
A few minutes later other Xiaomi accounts again confirmed the phone, albeit with a new time slot – 12PM GMT.
Xiaomi Spain and Xiaomi UK teasers
The key feature of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9T is going to be its 5G connectivity. The phone was already spotted at Geekbench, so we know it will run on Dimensity 800U chipset by Mediatek and have 4GB RAM. Sadly, it will ship with Android 10 out of the box.
Another thing we can gather from these teasers is the phone will have an oreo-shaped camera island, similar to the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G. However, this time there’ll be only three cameras – we have to wait until the launch this Friday to learn whether it is a main + ultra-wide + 2 MP depth combo, or the secondary shooter has been replaced with a dedicated macro cam.
