The Galaxy A50 is one of a (growing) number of smartphones in the company’s mid-range line, newly revamped for 2019 in both branding and philosophy. This is definitely not going to be confused for a flagship by anyone, with its inner specs and outward plastic construction.
But will it bend? Will it scratch? Will its screen burn? If you feel like these are the types of pressing questions you simply must know the answer to right now, then sit back and enjoy another durability testing video by Zack from JerryRigEverything.
If you didn’t watch for some reason, here’s the quick skinny. The screen scratches at a level 6 on the Mohs scale, with deeper grooves at level 7 (you probably know this phrase by heart by now if you’ve watched a few of these in the past). You can peel off the plastic sides if you must use a knife on them. The cameras on the rear are behind protective glass.
The display lasts 30 seconds under the heat from a direct flame, and after that there’s barely a trace of the damage. The A50 flexes substantially when bent from the back, and when turned around something snaps, although the phone looks intact. It still works and survives, at least on the outside. Inside, a screw may have popped out, so it’s probably best not to sit on this phone (too much) if you own one.
