You didn’t think it was over, did you? Even though Xiaomi unveiled the Mi 11 Ultra, Mi 11 Pro, Mi 11 Lite (and 5G) and Mi 11i yesterday, not to mention additional gadgets, there is more to come from the aptly-named Mega Launch.
After Part 1 comes Part 2 of the event. The company has officially confirmed that the Mix series will be making a comeback and we expect that to be the focus for today. It teased a liquid lens, but rumors suggest that the big reveal will be this – the new Mi Mix will be a foldable phone, Xiaomi’s first.
And while that’s a big deal, we expect that there will be more. The company already announced that it will enter the electric vehicle market, but the details of that fit in a tweet. Since Lei Jun will be the CEO of the EV subsidiary, we expect that he will fill in more details during his presentation on stage.
Also, there was some wordplay surrounding the word “surge”, the name of the abandoned project to design chipsets in-house. However, the Mi 11 Ultra battery tech was developed in-house (which includes a bespoke chip), the Mix’s liquid lens is apparently designed by Xiaomi as well. So, efforts to develop its own chipset may have been renewed.
