Venus Optics has announced its second Laowa ultra-wide-angle lens with ‘Zero-Distortion’ for Micro Four Thirds camera systems, the Laowa 10mm F2 Zero-D MFT.

The ultra-compact lens features a full-frame equivalent focal length of 20mm and is constructed of eleven elements in seven groups, including three extra-low dispersion elements. Like the other lenses in the Laowa ‘Zero-D’ line, the 10mm F2 lens is specifically designed to minimize distortion for a ‘more natural wide-angle perspective.

The lens is manual focus, but its aperture can be controlled through the camera thanks to its contacts, which also provide EXIF data for embedding into the image file. Other features include a five-blade aperture diaphragm, a minimum focusing distance of 12cm (4.7”) and a 46mm front filter thread.

The lens measures just 41mm long, 53mm in diameter and weighs only 125g. As visible in the above illustration, that makes the lens roughly the size of four Oreo cookies stacked atop one another. As for weight, my back-of-a-napkin math says it weighs the same as roughly 11 Oreo cookies.
The lens is available to purchase on the Venus Optics website for $399.
Update: (Friday, December 18, 2020 at 10:33 AM): A previous version of this article stated the lens was three Oreos tall. It is actually four Oreos tall and the article has been updated accordingly. That said, we cannot confirm nor deny at this time whether or not it would be three Oreos tall if ‘Double Stuff’d’ Oreos were used instead.
