Tokina rebrands and raises prices of 13 lenses, discontinues three other lenses

Tokina has announced it is discontinuing 3 of its lenses and raising the price of 13 others, as part of a product line restructure.

According to Tokina, the price increase is due to ‘cost hikes of raw materials and components.’ Despite ‘making every effort to absorb the cost hike,’ Tokina says it is ‘not able to bear all the cost increase any further and [needs] to revise the price of all Tokina lenses.’

The 13 lenses Tokina is raising the price of will also receive a slight rebrand. As of last month, all of these revised lenses will feature ‘PLUS’ branding on the new packaging and will include a Tokina-branded microfiber cloth. Aside from these changes, all technical specifications of the following lenses remain unchanged:

Tokina hasn’t specified what the price increase will be yet, and as of publishing this article, no online retailer has the new ‘PLUS’ versions listed for sale (interestingly, many of the ‘discontinued’ lenses are on sale from the old prices right now at a number of retailers).

In addition to discontinuing the non-PLUS versions of the above lenses, Tokina has also discontinued three other lenses, listed below. No specific reason is given, other than to say the decision was made ‘in line with this revision,’ referring to the price increase on the other lenses.
