The Honor V30 has been popping up in the rumor mill quite frequently. An official TENAA certification and some carrier listings later, it is all but certain that Honor’s next flagship is on the horizon and likely to land this moth in China.
As par an exclusive insider tip, however, in a rather interesting twist, the V30 might be headed to European markets as well. Our source on the matter also made sure to back these claims up quoting a pair of Huawei trademarks that first surfaced back in July this year. These were issues by the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) in Munich and protect the company’s intellectual property over the “Cine-Lens” and “Camera Matrix” trademarks. This is where things get interesting.
Trademark
These two were originally expected to appear in the Huawei Mate 30 Pro. And indeed, certain press material do refer to the phone’s 40MP, 18mm, 1/1.54″, f/1.8 camera using the “Cine” moniker. Our source claims that the very same camera module will appear as part of the camera array on the Honor V30 as well. As for the Camera Matrix trademarks, however, we never really saw any mention of similar tech on the Mate 30 line. Apparently, whatever “Camera Matrix” is, it is going to debut on the Honor V30.
Honor V30 Pro
While we are still not sure exactly what the technology or its PR name refer to, we do have an educated guess. As per an earlier specs leak detailing both a Honor V30 Pro and a vanilla version, we can expect to see a new 60MP sensor on at least one of the phones. Given the odd megapixel count, we can only assume it is somehow related to Huawei’s current 40MP RYYB sensor. The only thing we really know for a fact from our source is that “Camera Matrix” is something new and exciting, not present on the Huawei Mate 30 Pro and making its debut in the Honor V30 and/or V30 Pro.
As for the alleged European launch of the Honor V30, it is far from confirmed at this point in time. If it does come to pass it could, very well, incorporate some interesting licensing manuever on Huawei’s part to get Google Play services on the phone. A necessity given the ongoing issues between the US and Huawei.
Honor V30
Just to reiterate some of the other specs alleged to appear in Honor’s next flagships, there is the Kirin 990 in both the vanilla V30 and the V30 Pro. The latter, however, is said to get the 5G version of the chipset, which is built on the new 7nm+ EUV process and features higher clock speeds and an additional NPU core. The Pro is expected to get an OLED display with two punch holes, while the regular V30 has to settle for LCD, but with just a single hole. The Pro should get a quad camera setup and the regular V30 – one snapper less on the back. And last, but not least, 4,200mAh battery and 40W SuperCharge for the V30 Pro, 4,000mAh and 22.5W SuperCharge for the V30.
