The 2026 Nissan LEAF is the most affordable EV with prices starting under $30,000

The new 2026 Nissan LEAF will arrive at US dealerships any day now. And it’s even cheaper than the OG model launched in 2011. With prices starting under $30,000, Nissan says the new LEAF will be the most affordable EV in the US. And it’s bringing more range, faster charging, and plenty of other upgrades.

Nissan’s electric hatch is all grown up and now a crossover SUV. The 2026 Nissan LEAF now has over 300 miles of range and a built-in NACS port so you can charge up at Tesla Superchargers.

With starting prices at just $29,990, Nissan said the 2026 LEAF has “the lowest starting MSRP for any new EV currently on sale in the US.” It’s even cheaper than the original LEAF, launched in 2011 for $32,780.

Despite added features and a longer driving range, the 2026 LEAF SV+ trim is priced from $34,230, or nearly $2,000 less than the 2025 model year.

Nissan’s senior VP of marketing and sales in the US, Vinay Shahani, said after launching the LEAF 15 years ago, the automaker is “still committed to making electric driving accessible to all.” Shahani added, “That’s how we’ve kept the LEAF’s price steady over three generations — all while giving owners more style, more technology, more features and a vastly improved driving range over the original 2011 model.”

Powered by a 75 kWh liquid-cooled Li-ION battery, the 2026 Nissan LEAF now has up to 303 miles of driving range. That’s a big improvement from the 212 miles of max range on the outgoing model.

It can also fast charge (10% to 80%) in as little as 35 minutes. Nissan added new features, including a dimmable “segment-first” panoramic roof.

The redesigned interior features a minimalist setup with dual driver display and infotainment screens. The S and S+ models include 12.3″ screens, while the SV+ and Platinum+ trims get upgraded 14.3″ screens.

Google built-in is available with Google Maps and Intelligent Route Planner to make road trips a breeze. Nissan added new camera tech providing new features as standard, like Intelligent Around View Monitor, Invisible Hood View, and Front Wide View.

Nissan will announce prices for the entry-level LEAF S soon. The new 2026 LEAF will begin arriving at US dealerships this fall.

What do you think of the new LEAF? A new look, more range, added features, faster charging, and much more, all for under $30,000? Not bad, Nissan. Will the new Chevy Bolt EV, due out later this year, undercut it? We’ll find out soon.
