Sony a1 added to studio test scene for stills and video

Test scene

Our test scene is designed to simulate a variety of textures, colors and detail types you’ll encounter in the real world. It also has two illumination modes to see the effect of different lighting conditions.

The 50MP, ‘stacked’ BSI-CMOS sensor in the Sony a1 is among the most advanced imaging sensors you can find today. It’s capable of incredibly fast read-out despite that massive resolution, and we were curious how it compares against other options on the market. Take a tour of our studio scene above; we’ll have our own thorough analysis once we complete our full review.

Video stills

We also took a look at how the a1 samples its sensor to produce 8K and 4K footage. See how it compares against the Canon EOS R5, the only other ‘consumer-level’ camera that can capture 8K video.
