Sigma has published a notice on its website confirming firmware version 3.00 for its fp camera will be released on June 3, 2021. According to Sigma, the update will add ‘various functions’ to improve the capabilities of the camera.

Specifically, Sigma says firmware version 3.00 for the fp will add the Powder Blue and Duotone ‘Color Modes’ found in the company’s newer fp L camera as well as the promised compatibility with the Sigma EVF-11 viewfinder that was released alongside the new fp L camera.

Other improvements expected to be included in the 3.00 firmware update include the ability to save/load camera settings using QR codes, the addition of the ‘Quick Focus Frame Shift’ function, better AF operation, improved JPEG quality, the new ‘Custom Frame’ option found on the fp L and an increase in the number of functions that can be assigned to the Custom Buttons.

Overall, it seems Sigma is hoping to bring more parity between its fp and fp L cameras with this firmware update. So long as the anticipated upgrades hold true, it should be a welcomed addition for fp owners, especially those who’ve been waiting to get their hands on the EVF-11 viewfinder.
