Samsung Galaxy Xcover FieldPro finally goes on sale in the US

Samsung introduced the Galaxy Xcover FieldPro for professionals needing extra rugged phones back in October 2019. The phone was on the website of the company’s US division but wasn’t available to end users until now.

At last, AT&T is offering the ultra-durable device, but it will cost you – the price is exactly $1,104.99, but you can opt to pay $36.84 per month for the next two and a half years.

The phone has an Exynos 9810 chipset, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage and there is a slot for up to 512 gigs more. It is essentially a Galaxy S9 in a bulkier, shell that makes it more resistant to the elements. The 12MP sensor is accompanied by a fingerprint scanner on the side and a triple-LED flash.

This is a phone targeted to a specific type of people who need their phone to be sturdy and reliable. It has dedicated push-to-talk button, as well as one to request emergency services. AT&T is the only carrier in the United States that supports the LTE Band 14, used by first responders.

The Galaxy Xcover FieldPro runs Android Pie, with Android 10 incoming, and there is also the Samsung Knox security platform for payments, which is approved by the federal government.

If ordered now, the phone will ship next week. AT&T also offers curbside pickup, meaning you can go out and get it from a nearby store, but given the quarantine situation, this isn’t the most responsible option.
