Samsung Galaxy Watch Active receives a major OTA update

Samsung’s Galaxy Watch Active is still a new product announced earlier this year but all reports seem to be pointing at a second-generation release alongside the much-awaited Galaxy Note10. That doesn’t mean the current Galaxy Watch won’t be getting all the cool updates, though, and the latest firmware upgrade is a testament for that.

The Galaxy Watch Active owners that have already installed the update can now make use of the improved App Tray UI for easier navigation and finding the app you need. The Goodnight Mode is now further improved. When activated, it will switch to its own view showing you only the time while blocking all incoming notifications.

Bixby has been upgraded too – it can now launch an app or do a specific task with conversational language. You can also control smart home devices with Bixby and without even touching the smartwatch – it can recognize your voice without turning on the screen. In short – Bixby gets more useful and powerful than before.

The newly introduced swimming functionality finally makes its way to the Galaxy Watch Active. The wearable also keeps track of your health constantly when your heart rate goes beyond a certain point or dips lower than it should. The thresholds are customizable.

Additionally, Samsung’s official Strap Studio shop now offers 15 new straps for each category – rubber, textile, leather and leather dress.
