The Galaxy S23 series is bringing upgraded video capture capabilities, including support for 8K at 30fps (previous models topped out at 24fps). There’s more – according to leakster , the Galaxy S23 Ultra will have improved portrait video mode.
The resolution cap is reportedly going up to 4K at 30fps, while the current S22 Ultra only records 1080p/30fps videos in portrait mode. On top of that the separation between subject and background will be better.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra will be the first (and for now only) phone equipped with the ISOCELL HP2
It’s not clear if these enhancements will be available on the other two Galaxy S23 models. They all have the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipsets, but the Ultra is the only one with the new ISOCELL HP2 200MP sensor. The S22 and S22+ will use 50MP sensors instead.
Anyway, The Cat also writes that the thermals of the Galaxy S23 Ultra are “relatively good”, which should mean that the new flagship doesn’t heat up much while shooting in these more demanding video modes. The S23 series will be officially unveiled in a couple of weeks time on February 1.
