Last week Samsung announced its brand new Galaxy S23 series and despite the price hike, the company secured around 140,000 pre-orders in the first 24 hours in India. That’s about twice the Galaxy S22 pre-orders from last year and it shows a strong demand for premium devices in the country and perhaps Samsung’s pre-order deals and goodies tipped the scale in its favor.
Samsung’s spokesperson didn’t reveal the pre-order distribution. The average selling price of a Galaxy S23 member is about INR 99,000 ($1,200), so that would make for $169 million in revenue.
Samsung has recently opened a big production facility in India – the biggest one in the country, actually – and Galaxy S23 series sold in the country are assembled there.
