Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra durability test uncovers two separate screen protectors

Samsung’s latest and greatest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S21 Ultra, is already on its way to those who pre-ordered one, and while you wait for yours, aren’t you interested in a good old fashioned durability test?

Of course you are, and is here to deliver, as always. Weirdly enough, the scratch test reveals that Samsung shipped Zack’s unit with not one, but two screen protectors applied onto the Gorilla Glass Victus, which to us seems like overkill. And it’s also not something we’ve ever heard of before as a practice in the mobile world, so maybe this was just an assembly error?

Anyway, that aside, the glass underneath is still glass, so you know the deal already – it scratches at level 6 on the Mohs hardness scale, with deeper grooves showing up at level 7.

The sides of the phone are aluminum, as are the buttons, while the screen lasts for about 45 seconds under direct fire from a lighter, and then doesn’t recover. The fingerprint sensor keeps working even when the screen above it is scratched, and the S21 Ultra survived the bend test with flying colors.
