As we’ve said multiple times, Samsung has gotten really good at issuing timely updates to big new Android versions for its devices, but it’s not all roses – due to the sheer number of phones it launches each year, the process inevitably takes many, many months.
Cue the fact that the Galaxy M22 launched in October of 2021 (when Android 12 was already official), is only now getting to the front of the line and finally receiving its taste of Android 12 with One UI 4.1 on top. So at least it’s getting the latest iteration of Samsung’s skin. It also gets the April 2022 security patch, which isn’t current anymore, but for such a low-end device we’ll excuse it.
Speaking of low-end, because of its affordable innards, the Galaxy M22 runs the Core version of One UI, which means some of the features available in higher-end devices won’t be available here. It’s been the same since it launched, we’re just reminding you of this fact.
The update to Android 12 comes with the build number M225FVXXU4BFD8 in both Saudi Arabia and UAE, which so far are the only two countries where it’s rolling out. Hopefully the new software will spread further soon.
