Ripple’s 2025 Breakthrough: Securing Key Licenses in New York and Texas

Ripple’s latest licensing wins in New York and Texas solidify its position in blockchain-powered payments, enabling compliant, real-time cross-border solutions for growing institutional demand.

Ripple Secures Key Licenses to Strengthen Cross-Border Payments

Ripple has entered 2025 with a strong push to expand its cross-border solutions capabilities, securing Money Transmitter Licenses (MTLs) in New York and Texas. In its Insights article published on Jan. 27, titled “Crypto Momentum in the US: What’s Next for Ripple Payments,” It explained how these licenses will support growing demand for its blockchain-enabled financial solutions.

The company described New York and Texas as “two states where Ripple has seen strong demand for real-time global payments from both banks and crypto businesses—bringing the total to more than 50 MTLs.” Highlighting the importance of these licenses in ensuring regulatory compliance in key markets emphasized:

Texas and New York have defined regulations and stringent licensing requirements with robust compliance standards and regulatory oversight.

MTLs are crucial to provide financial institutions and businesses with a compliant-first, end-to-end managed cross-border payments experience. These efforts are part of Ripple’s broader strategy to meet growing institutional demand for faster, cost-efficient, and 24/7 global payment solutions.

As noted in the Jan. 27 Insights:

With more than 60 licenses globally, Ripple can offer customers access to a seamless, compliant-first, global payment experience that leverages the superior capabilities of digital assets.

Ripple now operates in over 90 global markets and has facilitated $70 billion in payments volume. This licensing milestone, combined with the company’s existing NY Bitlicense and other global regulatory approvals, underscores its leadership in blockchain-powered payment solutions.

Ripple’s expansion in New York and Texas demonstrates its adherence to strict regulatory standards and its focus on meeting the growing demand for blockchain applications. The new licenses enhance Ripple’s capacity to scale its payments network, which covers 90% of daily foreign exchange markets. The company now holds over 50 U.S. licenses and more than 60 globally.
