Ripple is igniting a new wave of institutional adoption as XRP and RLUSD surge into prime-broker collateral roles, signaling a transformational leap in crypto liquidity, multi-asset trading access, and global market connectivity.

Ripple Accelerates as XRP and RLUSD Move to Reinforce Institutional Collateral

Ripple has seen accelerating institutional growth, with XRP and RLUSD set to be deployed as collateral for professional clients as demand for crypto-driven liquidity expands across global markets. The company is positioning these assets to support broader access to multi-asset trading and clearing.

Reece Merrick, senior executive officer and managing director of Middle East & Africa at Ripple, shared on social media platform X on Nov. 25: “Last month, Ripple completed the acquisition of Hidden Road (now Ripple Prime) who serve 300 institutional customers, clearing $3 trillion across all markets annually.” Noting that “Ripple is now the first crypto native company to own a global, multi-asset prime broker (FX, digital assets, derivatives, fixed income + more),” he opined:

We have already seen significant growth since the announcement, and & RLUSD will be used as collateral for institutional clients. The institutional era just leveled up.

His remarks highlighted Ripple’s aim to deepen institutional engagement by expanding liquidity channels and collateral flexibility.

Ripple completed its $1.25 billion acquisition of multi-asset prime broker Hidden Road in October, rebranding it as Ripple Prime. This landmark deal makes Ripple the first crypto company to own a global prime broker, significantly broadening its institutional suite.

Hidden Road provides clearing, financing, and brokerage across traditional and digital assets for more than 300 institutions, and the business has already tripled in size since the transaction closed. The move blends traditional finance with crypto infrastructure, supporting RLUSD’s growing role as collateral for prime brokerage products. The platform is positioned to streamline institutional trading by leveraging the Ledger for efficient, on-chain settlement, responding to rising demand for compliant and sophisticated digital-asset tools.
