Redmi K60 Gaming is not happening, Xiaomi VP confirms

The Xiaomi 13 is launching this Sunday, and one company VP revealed that it will be mightier than gaming phones. Lu Weibing, also known by his Western name William Lu, stated that in 2023 we won’t need dedicated devices for gaming on Android, and this trend is “doomed to die”.

The vice president is also the President of Xiaomi China and the brand manager of Redmi, meaning we should not expect the Redmi K60 Gaming device, as the regular Redmi K60 should be enough for all the gaming needs of customers.

The Redmi K60 series is already in production, as some spy photos revealed. The lineup will consist of a Redmi K60E, confirmed to have Dimensity 8200 chipset that is developed with gaming in mind; a vanilla Redmi K60 with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, and a Redmi K60 Pro with the latest from Qualcomm – the current flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

Previously, Lu stated that Dynamic Island is being tested by the Xiaomi software development team, so we might see the Apple-like notification panel in the Redmi K60 phones, even if the selfie cameras remain in the corner.
