Redmi K20 Pro begins update to Android 10 in India

The Redmi K20 Pro has been on sale for several months now. It launched as the Xiaomi MI 9T in other markets, but India keeps the Redmi branding. This device has the soul of Xiaomi’s original flagship killer, the Pocophone F1.

We have received several tips today from our readers in India that the Redmi K20 Pro has begun receiving Android 10. Of course, we had to try downloading it on our K20 Pro unit in the office and sure enough, we got the OTA notification!

MIUI 10 is Xiaomi’s customized Android skin and it brings a new look. It optimizes the amount of space used to display notifications and there is an available dark mode. The Settings app has also been refined and the menus, simplified.

There are all-new sound effects throughout the UI, including new water and sand sounds. There are even a few sounds you can fall asleep to including forest, night, beach, drizzle (rain), and fire.

Generally, MIUI optimizes the entire user experience for use on full-screen displays, screens with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Recent apps were also updated in a vertically scrolling view rather than the horizontal-scrolling carousel – better for viewing on tall screens.
