Realme 8s 5G and 8i are coming on September 9 with MediaTek chipsets

Realme introduced the Realme 8 and 8 Pro in March and followed up with the 8 5G in April. Today, the company announced it will add two more members to the 8 series on September 9 – Realme 8s 5G and Realme 8i.

In a press note sent to the media, Realme confirmed that the 8i will come with Helio G96 SoC and 120Hz screen, while the 8s 5G will be the world’s first smartphone to have the Dimensity 810 chip at the helm. The company also said that both smartphones will feature Dynamic RAM Expansion (DRE), letting users expand the phone’s RAM virtually using its internal storage.

Realme hasn’t divulged anything else about either of these smartphones, but previous leaks have left little to the imagination.

The Realme 8s 5G will pack a 6.5″ 90Hz screen with 6/8GB RAM and 128/256GB of storage onboard. It will run Android 11-based Realme UI 2.0 out of the box and have 64MP primary and 16MP selfie cameras in tow. The smartphone will also feature a side-mounted fingerprint reader, and fueling the entire package will be a 5,000 mAh battery with 33W charging.

The Realme 8i, on the other hand, will feature a 6.59″ FullHD+ display with a punch hole in the top-left corner for the 16MP selfie unit. The smartphone’s rear panel will sport a camera island housing 50MP primary, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensors.

Under the hood, the 8i will have 4GB RAM, 128GB UFS 2.2 storage, and a 5,000 mAh battery. The 8i will also have a fingerprint scanner embedded into the power button, and the smartphone will presumably boot Realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11.

We expect Realme to confirm a few of the 8s 5G and 8i’s features in the days leading to the official unveiling.
